Avakai is a traditional Mango pickle originated in the state Andhra Pradesh .Avakai means a pickle prepared with mustard seed powder and a fruit[Ava means mustard kaya means a fruit] Mangoes, especially around this summer season, are good for this pickle.'Chinna rasalu’, 'tella gulabeelu' are a few varieties that are used in the preparation of avakai. Spices like mustard powder and fenugreek powder along with salt and red chilli powder are used for this preparation.
